Accreditation
The Arab Baptist Theological Seminary (ABTS) is registered as a religious school at the Lebanese Ministry of Education (under the decree no. 7851. Date: 16/10/1961 مدرسة اللاهوت المعمدانية العربية). However, its degrees are not recognized by the Department of Higher Education Consequently, ABTS has obtained institutional accreditation from the European Council for Theological Education (ECTE), which follows the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) set by the European Union, as an alternative provider of higher education in 2012 together with programme accreditation for the following programmes: Certificate in Ministry, EQF level 5, 2019; Bachelor of Theology, EQF level 6, 2015; Master of Religion in MENA Studies, EQF level 7, 2015. In 2023, ABTS received the renewal of the programme accreditation for the Certificate in Ministry, Bachelor of Theology, and Master of Religion programs and the accreditation of the Master of Theology Program, EQF level 7.
ECTE accreditation of alternative providers of higher education indicates that the learning opportunities offered by ABTS are compliant with the European Standards and Guidelines for higher education and attests to the level of the learning opportunities according to the EQF.
In addition, ABTS and its programs are also accredited by the Middle East and North Africa Association for Theological Education (MENATE) since 2016.
