MTh in Middle Eastern Studies Admission

Kindly note that the following elements are pre-requisites for acceptance at the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary:

  • Spiritual: Proclamation of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, evidenced too in the person's life.
  • Church: A reputable member in a local Evangelical church, with a clear calling for Christian ministry and an attestation to this effect from the pastor or a local leader.
  • Affiliation: Loyal to the Evangelical Statement of Faith as well as that of ABTS throughout the duration of their study at ABTS.
  • Academic: Fulfillment of the various pre-requisites required for the intended study program.
  • Language: Proficiency in English and modern classical Arabic language.
  • Financial: Free of financial debt and with a clear demonstration of how the person intends to cover their fees.
  • Clear Calling: Able to demonstrate through the submitted application form as well as the various interviews with the academic team a clear calling to Christian ministry and a certain minimum level of experience in the ministry field.
  • Behavioral: Able to demonstrate through the submitted application and the various interviews with the members of ABTS Academic team a certain level of psychological and emotional maturity that is reflected in a balanced personality and humble inter-personal relations.
  • Technical: Having the sufficient knowledge in using a computer and surfing the internet considering the nature of the program.
The applicant to the MTh in Middle Eastern Studies Program must:

  • Have met all the requirements for admission into the programs at the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary described above.
  • Holds a recognized undergraduate degree (a first degree in Theology is not necessary)
  • Be capable in the English language and have a TOEFL iBT certificate or its equivalent for non-native English speakers. The score required for TOEFL iBT for Arabic speakers is a minimum of 64: 18+ for reading and 17+ for listening. Applicants who have earned a first degree taught entirely in the English language may apply for exemption from the TOEFL even if English is not their native language. Appropriate proof of eligibility needs to be submitted with the application.
  • Have filled out the application for the program and attached all the necessary documents.
Documents that should be attached with the application for the MTh in Middle Eastern Studies Program:

1. Copy of the personal ID or passport

2. A photo of the applicant in passport size

3. Official transcripts from all post-secondary academic institutions

4. A recommendation letter from the applicant’s church leader.

5. A recommendation from a dean or tutor who has overseen the applicant’s university-level education.

6. The results of the applicant’s TOEFL IBT exam or its equivalent for non-native English speakers, on the condition that this includes the results for the listening, reading comprehension, grammar and composition, and short essay segments of the exam.
