Re-accreditation of our Residential
and Accreditation of our Online Program

January 17, 2020

ABTS has been affiliated with the European Council for Theological Education (ECTE formerly known as EEAA) for many years. The ECTE is a quality assurance network that serves evangelical theological schools in Europe and the Middle East. ECTE does not give seminaries the ability to grant degrees but rather certifies comparability of the programs to European standards. Our first formal accreditation process began in November of 2008 and the first accreditation visit happened in October 2014. In March 2015, ECTE granted accreditation of our residential programs and Master of Religion, renewable every 5 years. With the date of renewal approaching in 2020, the ECTE sent a Visitation Evaluation Team (VET) to ABTS, made up of Dr. Bernhard Ott and Dr. Lina Toth, to review our programs and make sure we are meeting ECTE standards. The VET arrived on October 14, 2019 and stayed with us for 3 days. They met with different members of our faculty and staff as well as with our students, reviewed our curriculum and our material, and studied the structure of our online program. On November 25, the ECTE council approved the re-accreditation of our Certificate in Theology, Diploma in Theology, Bachelor of Theology, Post-Graduate Certificate in Theology, Master of Divinity, and Master of Religion in Middle Eastern and North African Studies and granted our Online Certificate in Ministry its first accreditation. In addition, during the ECTE general assembly meeting our Registrar Rana Wazir was elected to serve on the ECTE council for the next 4 years.

We thank the Lord for the dedication and diligence of our students, faculty, and staff, and pray that He keeps and protects them as they serve His Church in the Arab world.
