A Journey to Christ

Testimony from a New Lebanese Student

Christ was working in my life ever since I was a child without me knowing it. I grew up in a sweet and simple non-Christian family, and we lived in a very popular area around Beirut. Because my family was large, my parents struggled to provide for us, so my siblings ended up dropping out of school to help support the family and my education since I was the youngest. They all put their hope in me, and not wanting to disappoint them, I started looking for ways to support myself and my learning. When I was 10, I used to go with my dad to the Ras Beirut Baptist Church building where he used to work to help him out. There, one of the people asked if I would like to attend the children’s ministry instead, and just like that I began to attend all the meetings at the Church, but it took me 7 years to come to Christ. Back then, as I pursued money, I quickly fell into crime. Then, one day in 2005, I had a dream that I was one of the people helping bring down the body of Christ from the cross and taking it to the grave. There, I was suddenly the only one with Christ, and as the wrappings came undone, I saw His beautiful face and He asked, “do you know me?” and I said “yes.” Then He asked, “do you love me?” and again I said “yes.” Finally, He said, “do you believe in me?” and I could not answer. Three times He asked and three times I could not answer. On the third, I looked up and saw a single, crystal-like tear on His cheek. That is when I came to and realized that I was not dreaming, and that I was having a vision. I called up my spiritual mentor, and it was then that I came to faith in Christ.

Ever since coming to faith, I have come to know that the Lord has prepared me to serve in areas that are difficult to reach for most. That is why I have used every opportunity He has given me to share His gospel, and bit by bit, the Lord has helped me form a small group of believers from different backgrounds who come together to pray and study the Bible. I want to study theology so that I can grow in my knowledge of Christ so that I can better serve Him and His Kingdom.
